Central and Eastern Europe

To better serve the fast growing markets of Eastern Europe a new service center was built in southern Poland which began operation on schedule on November 1, 2006 after over a year of planning and construction. Operating from a conveniently located site in Dabrowa Górnicza (roughly 16 km from Katowice) ThyssenKrupp Stainless Polska Sp. z o.o., a wholly owned subsidiary of ThyssenKrupp Stainless International, serves the Baltic states and in particular the Polish market, which is gaining increasing importance for stainless steel flat products. In addition to extensive cut-to-length and slitting capabilities the service center offers a wide range of attractive surface treatments thanks to an advanced grinding and brushing facility. Internal processes are supported by a semi-automatic coil packaging line. As well as selling flat products the service center also offers processing services for welded stainless tube and pipe. ThyssenKrupp Stainless Polska currently employs 35 people.

The stainless steel markets of Central and Eastern Europe have already been served for several years by a further subsidiary of ThyssenKrupp Stainless International, the Hungarian operation ThyssenKrupp Silco Inox Kft. Operating out of Bátonyterenye north of Budapest, the service center primarily serves the Hungarian market but ThyssenKrupp Silco Inox is also increasingly exporting stainless steel flat products to neighboring countries as well as Russia and the Baltic states.
